Aristotle quotes on love are so interesting- I suppose he believes the “merge” that happens in romantic love is like a fusion of two souls into one.
For some couples, this appears to be the case toward the end of their lives together, especially when, in their old age, they share feelings of not knowing what to with themselves if the other was gone.
Nonetheless, one of them does die first, and often they do heal when good support systems/ friendships/ family are available. Maybe, we’re always fusing souls; with each experience and meaningful encounter we develop more of the character, wisdom, and personality that is our “soul.” Who knows?
